Prime Minister Jüri Ratas met with Andrej Babiš, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, and Theresa May, head of government of the United Kingdom, in Salzburg. Discussion topics with Babiš included digital cooperation and with May, the prime minister discussed Brexit and common security.
Andrej Babiš, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, expressed interest in the ICT experiences and e-governance of Estonia and invited Prime Minister Jüri Ratas with a business delegation to visit Prague in November to discuss the topics. “Estonia is happy to share experiences on e-governing and successful e-solutions.
The development of a digital society and an e-government will surely pay off, as the investments made for this development will be recovered quickly in the form of more efficient governing, economic growth, and convenience in the everyday lives of the people,” Ratas said.
Prime ministers Ratas and Babiš agreed that during the visit planned to take place in November, a business seminar focusing on digital society and the development of an e-government will also take place. “We wish to bring together the entrepreneurs and public sector of Estonia and the Czech Republic so they could share their experiences and find new ways to cooperate,” Ratas added.
The prime ministers of Estonia and the Czech Republic also discussed issues related to migration and the next multiannual financial framework of the European Union for 2021–2027.
Yesterday evening, Prime Minister Jüri Ratas also met with Theresa May, head of government of the United Kingdom, with whom he discussed the current situation of the negotiations of the UK’s exit from the European Union as well as security topics. Ratas emphasised that Estonia will continue to have good and close cooperation relations with the United Kingdom also in the future – in the areas of economy, security, as well as foreign policy.
